Data Protection Information

Union Heritage Life Assurance Company dac (“Union Heritage”, “we” or “the Company”) will process details, information and data which are collected from the policyholders and/or third parties in respect of the policyholder’s application/policy (“Personal Data”). Personal Data will be processed for the purposes of providing and administering the insurance products provided by Union Heritage including the processing of claims related to those products and also in order to comply with legal or regulatory obligations imposed on the Company.

Union Heritage is registered as a Data Controller under the Data Protection Act 1988 and the Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2003 (“the Data Protection Acts”). All Personal Data, however obtained, will be held, recorded and processed in accordance with the Company’s obligations therein on computer and/or manual systems in respect of insurance dealings with Union Heritage both now and in the future for administrative, identification, customer care, service and marketing purposes in respect of Union Heritage’s products and services only. This data will remain confidential.

Union Heritage may pass personal data to agents and service providers engaged to process data on the Company’s behalf, including but not limited to other associated or affiliated companies in the group to which Union Heritage belongs. In addition, Union Heritage may pass personal data to tax authorities, reinsurers and other parties as may be required by the regulatory authorities wherever they are located in the world including countries which may not have adequate data protection laws in place but only in so far as it is required to ensure the proper execution of insurance matters and to comply with any legal and regulatory obligations. We may disclose any or all of the Personal Data in certain circumstances, if the policyholder requests or consents to the Company providing the Personal Data to another party. Union Heritage may also disclose certain elements of Personal Data to Financial Institutions acting on the Company’s behalf in relation to processing transfers regarding the policyholder’s policy.

Personal information, including information about physical and mental health or any other sensitive personal data within the meaning of the Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2003, may be collected by Union Heritage and used for the purposes described and held for as long as required in order to comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.

You have the right to obtain access to (for which we may charge a small fee) and request correction of any verified inaccuracies in personal information held by Union Heritage. Requests for such access can be made to Head of Customer Services, Union Heritage Life Assurance Company dac Block E, Iveagh Court Harcourt Road Dublin 2. Proof of identity will be required in order to process any such request. Individuals may also block certain uses or object to the processing of their Personal Data.
